Type 2 Deicing Fluid

Unheated and undiluted or diluted for anti icing.
Type 2 deicing fluid. For example undiluted dow ucar deicing fluid type i ethylene glycol has a freezing point of 28 c. Designed to meet sae type i and ams 1424 specifications for de icing aircraft type 1 de icing fluid is made from propylene glycol. This fluid is not to be used when temperatures are under 22 f. When a type i fluid fails it fails suddenly.
For anti icing it is primarily the heat imparted to the airframe that accomplishes the task. Deicing fluids work best when they are diluted with water. Because of this type i fluids are commonly used as part of a two step de anti icing procedure when the final application of a type ii or type iv. This fluid has a low viscosity and flows off of aircraft easily.
Type i fluids have the shortest hot. However a mixture of 70 percent deicing fluid and 30 percent water freezes below 55 c. Type ii de anti icing fluids are manufactured and qualified to ams 1428 iso 11078 specifications. Type ii and iv fluids may be applied heated or cold and diluted or full strength.
Aircraft de icing clariant has developed high performing deicing fluids to keep aircraft surfaces free from ice and snow. The differences between type i and type iv de icing fluid. Type i de anti icing fluid are manufactured and qualified to ams 1424 iso 11075 specifications. Type ii fluids can be used for de icing purposes but unlike type i fluids also offer extended anti icing holdover protection and can be used in a variety of ways.
Recycling clariant supports our customers efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their airport operations and lower costs. For de icing it is the heat and hydraulic force that accomplish the task.
