There is an oil seal on both ends of the crankshaft where it passes through the crankcase.
Riding lawn mower leaking oil from bottom. Why is oil leaking from the bottom of my mower there is oil leaking from the bottom of my mower. If your lawnmower is leaking oil it could have a bad crankshaft oil seal. If oil continues to leak remove the oil tank and sump and replace the gasket underneath. If it is coming out of the tube itself the tube may be cracked or damaged.
